Exploring the ACFL on a beautiful November day

What a gorgeous November day today! I had to turn the computer off early and head outside. There aren't too many good sunny days left in the Northwest between now and the New Year. It was a perfect day to sneak over to Anacortes to continue researching Anacortes Community Forest Lands(ACFL). There are  over 50 miles of trails within this 2,800-acre protected recreation haven on Fidalgo Island. I intend on hiking many of those miles and including the best of them in my upcoming Day Hiking San Juan and Gulf Islands book which  will have an entire chapter on Fidalgo Island. Today's line up included the loops around Little Cranberry Lake and Big Beaver Pond! Have you been on them? What's your favorite Fidalgo hike(s)?

I smiled as I stumbled upon you. You seem to embraces a love of the NW. I think of Anacortes as having some of the best parks of any city in the US, well some are not quite in the city limits, but they are upon the doorstep. From Mt. Erie to Washington Park I have spent many days in this area exploring. I have also seen the growth and pressure it has caused.
You also seem to have a love of the Highlands as well. I have wandered the lands of north central Washington for many years. Here too, growth presses.
Might I suggest a new land to visit. I'm married to a Mongol. Having seen vast stretches of Mongolia, if you love Eastern Washington, you will fall for this amazing land. Cheers, write more post and I will check back and read them? What is your flavor of canine?
